In a move aimed at managing the overwhelming demand for the annual Horsetail Fall Firefall event, Yosemite National Park has introduced a reservation system for entrance during key weekends in February 2024. The Horsetail Fall Firefall, a breathtaking phenomenon where the waterfall appears to be ablaze during sunset, attracts visitors from around the world.
Entrance Reservations:
- Dates Requiring Reservations: Weekends of February 10–11, February 17–19, and February 24–25, 2024.
- No Reservation Needed on Weekdays: Visitors arriving Mondays through Fridays (except Monday, February 19) won't require a reservation.
- Reservation Fee: A nominal fee of $2 (non-refundable) is required, in addition to the $35 entrance fee per car, valid for seven days.

- Reservation Availability:
- Starting at 8 am Pacific time on December 1, 50% of day-use reservations are available for all three weekends.
- Remaining 50% available two days prior to the reservation date.
- Reservation Limitations: Each user can make one reservation per seven days. The reservation holder, with a photo ID, must be an occupant of the arriving vehicle.
- Cancellation Policy: Cancelled reservations become immediately available on Recreation.gov.
- Day-Use Permits: Valid for seven consecutive days for unlimited entries.

In-Park Camping, Lodging, or Vacation Rentals:
If you have a reservation for any of the following, you do not need an additional reservation:
- Day-use reservation (valid for 7 consecutive days for unlimited re-entries)
- Campground reservation at Upper Pines, Wawona, Hodgdon Meadow, or Camp 4
- Lodging reservation at The Ahwahnee, Yosemite Valley Lodge, or Curry Village
- Private lodging or vacation rental reservation in Wawona, Yosemite West, or Foresta
- Commercial use authorization
